Great Climbing?

It's a shame that there are people who like to dismember Westerners here, because this place has some spectacular geography-- of course there is the Hindu Kush but there is great rock everywhere here. It would make for a great climbing destination.

Captain,

Your OPSEC is terrible and you're putting lives at risk with your need to blather on publicly about your feelings. Do your troops and patients see this? Do Americas enemies? How about your commanding officer? Who are you really thinking about when you publish pictures like this along with your stories. Do you think America's enemies, even in AFG can't figure things out from what you post on the internet? Get a diary, write it there and quit putting others at risk.

America's enemies already know what Humvees and Chinooks look like. I never discuss classified information.

It seems to me (NOT the captain) that this freedom of speech and ideology is exactly what theleftcaptain is fighting for in his role in the military. The photos etc are all general, maybe a bit more raw, that we might see on network television. The thoughts and ideas are that of a person, not the filtered official viewpoints of selected military personnel. I find the human viewpoint enlightening. I think we should all blather about our feelings, and have them, but of course they need to be limited in some situations such as inpatient/professional discourse. Well done...keep up the fine work!

I'm going to keep on blathering...

I'm just worried about that enemy dog being able to penetrate the perimeter. Is he a retriever?

You have pictures of base security measures and details of the features of the vehicles that our soldiers depend upon for survival. You write about them as though you are above them. You need to keep this private. Does your commanding officer look at your blog? Would you like him to? How about OSI? Have your thoughts and experiences, but keep them inside the bounds of OPSEC. You're in the military now. Whether you carry a weapon or not, your job is to protect freedom of speech, not practice it the same way that civilians get to.

I do not post photos of base security measures. I also don't discuss TTPs, ongoing operations, or other information that compromises security.
Too bad you view my opinions as being condescending to Soldiers. That's not what is intended.
